"DEAD MAN" FILM DADA [ DA ] PIECE IS UP NOW AT PSYCHO HOLOSUITE
"DEAD MAN," a Film Dada [ Da ] piece about Jim Jarmusch's 1995 film Dead Man, is up now at Psycho Holosuite. YOU CAN READ IT HERE. Colossal thanks to Oli Johns for publishing the piece and for laying it out and sequencing it with perfectly paced/placed stills from the film. Let me be clear that I did not at all do that, that was Oli Johns, I just sent him a DOC containing a poem with weird spacing and entirely too many photos of William Blake + auto-body repair estimate content. The italicized lines in the piece are from an essay William Blake wrote describing a wild painting he'd created called "The Last Judgment" that no one has actually seen because it no longer exists. The piece is also undeniably influenced by Martin Heidegger's book Being and Time, which I finished reading shortly before writing this dada [ da ] "Dead Man." I drafted the piece on the aforementioned auto-body repair estimate, the only paper I could find in my car when the need to write the thing suddenly overcame me the day after I watched the film and was out just trying to go for a walk. Did I jam an altered version of this into wheel of fortune? You know that I did.
